FAQ

What is Ribfest?

Ribfest is a professional barbecue competition that has expanded across North America, travelling from city to city raising money for charitable organizations. It is a community-focused event, usually held in a large park-like setting featuring entertainment, local business owners, specialty vendors, and children’s entertainment.

Where will the money raised go?

This event will give back to the community by raising money for two local charities, Viola’s Place and Habitat for Humanity Pictou County, through donations from patrons, raffle tickets, sponsors, the beer tent, and more. There are fundraising opportunities for additional community organizations and groups during the event.

Where is Pictou County Ribfest located?

It will be hosted in Downtown New Glasgow at the site of the Glasgow Square Theatre parking lot and surrounding street area.

What is the cost of admission?

Admission to the event is FREE!  We do welcome donations at the entrance gate, as all funds raised will be donated to two local charities; Habitat for Humanity Pictou County and Viola’s Place Society homeless shelter. Once on the site, you will have a fantastic selection of amazing food, vendors and refreshments for sale.

Do vendors accept debit or credit cards?

Sorry, but this is a cash only event.  There are ATMs in very close proximity to the event site.

Are pets allowed?

The organizers, vendors and sponsors ask that you leave your pets at home when you visit Pictou County Ribfest.  We want to maintain a safe, clean and fun-filled family atmosphere.  On duty service dogs are welcome.

Will there be alcoholic beverages available?

Yes, there will be a licensed area and it is permitted as a restaurant.  This means that your children can accompany you until 8:30pm nightly.

Are children allowed to attend?
