What is Ribfest?

Ribfest is a professional barbecue competition that has expanded across North America, travelling from city to city raising money for charitable organizations. It is a community-focused event, usually held in a large park-like setting featuring entertainment, specialty vendors, and children’s entertainment.

Where will the money raised go?

This event will give back to the community by donating proceeds to local charity. There are fundraising opportunities for community organizations and groups during the event.  Please email pcribfest@gmail.com with any inquiries.

Where is Pictou County Ribfest located?

It will be hosted in Downtown New Glasgow at the site of the Glasgow Square Theatre parking lot and surrounding street area.

What is the cost of admission?

There is no cost of admission to Pictou County Ribfest, but we do have donations bottles at our entrance/exit gates as we are raising funds for local charity. 

Do vendors accept debit or credit cards?

Sorry, but this is a cash only event.  There are ATMs in very close proximity to the event site.

Are pets allowed?

The organizers, vendors and sponsors ask that you leave your pets at home when you visit Pictou County Ribfest.  We want to maintain a safe, clean and fun-filled family atmosphere.  On duty service dogs are welcome.

Will there be alcoholic beverages available?

Yes, there will be a licensed area and it is permitted as a restaurant.  This means that your children can accompany you until 8:30pm nightly.

Are children allowed to attend?

This is a family friendly event and we will have entertainment on site specifically for children to have a ton of fun!

Can I bring in my own food and beverages?

No, we ask that you support the vendors that have travelled a long distance to be here.  For safety purposes, bag inspection will be conducted at the gates.

What other food items are available besides ribs?

We will have a wide range of food vendors that will be serving up beef brisket, pulled pork, chicken, sausages, beans, coleslaw, cornbread, and so much more.  Stay tuned as we continue to announce vendors.
